Useful Air Conditioner & Heat Pump Troubleshooting from Trane

May 23rd, 2007

We have spent a lot of time discussing some of the many great features on the website of Trane, manufacturer of some of the best air conditioners, heat pumps, and air cleaners.  Today we shall discuss one more.  The Trane website contains a troubleshooting section which is divided into sections based on the general problem and then gives possible causes and information on how to verify whether a possible cause is in fact the cause of the problem.  Remember, it is important to have a certified HVAC technician repair all but the most basic problems with your air conditioner, and Trane knows this. Most of the suggested solutions consist of contacting a certified technician.  There are a few that you can fix yourself, such as checking the circuit breaker and ensuring that the thermostat is set correctly.  So if you cannot fix most of the problems yourself, why would this sort of troubleshooting be worthwhile to you? Simple, it can save you time and money.  Using the Trane troubleshooting page, you can determine whether the problem is something that does not necessitate a service call, such as a blown fuse, or if it does require a service call, you can be far more specific about the problem than simply “it doesn’t work”.

If the troubleshooting guide suggests that you contact an independent technician, call or e-mail the professionals at AC By Jay.
